Considering the time of year, this is probably not the best time to post this as it will not get the most reads, but what the heck, I came upon this revelation while having a crap and thought I would share it with those who would take the time to read it. If I don’t make any future posts I would also like to wish everyone the best New Year.
When thinking about how much money I have made from different affiliates that I have joined I am reminded of an old proverb…’you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink.’ In my situation, by use of the right keywords and other SEO tricks I can lead a visitor to my website or blog but no matter what, I can’t make him click and if I am lucky enough to get a click out of him he may never purchase the product or service and unless it is a PPC I will not get paid. Take for example just one of my affiliates which has, in total, received close to 4,000 impressions, from which I managed to get 41 clicks and 2 leads. Pretty damn dismal isn’t it?
This is the main reason that I am hoping that Pay Per Play will really take off, because once they go live in February 08 I will earn every time someone views one of my blogs or websites, which is as it should be. After all when an advertiser pays for his ads to appear on TV or Radio the owner of those places get paid before the ads appear so why shouldn’t we get paid in some small way for displaying ads on our sites?
Did I forget to mention that it is best to sign up earlier rather than later as then you can build up a decent three tier downline so that you can have a greater earning potential from the efforts of others?

David Hicks, accused terrorist, was released from jail yesterday. This is the man who apparently actively supported the forces that have been responsible for the death of our soldiers. The man who had chosen to fight with the Taliban and who according to cout documents describes Osama Bin Laden as a lovely brother.
A control order, much to the disgust of his supporters, has been placed on Hicks and he now has to meet the eight conditions that Australian Federal Police have requested which includes a midnight to 6:00am curfew and that Hicks must report to police in person three times a week. I am surprised that there were objections that such an order was place on a convicted terrorist supporter.
Many Aussies are pretty pissed off that Hicks offered no apologies for his actions, especially those who have suffered, such as victims of the Bali bombings, from terrorist acts.
As for me, I don’t care if he apologizes or not, I simply do not trust the guy and I reckon the eight point control order falls short of what is need to keep an eye on this guy.

My son was at a friends. While there one of the adults tried to get the kids to invest their Christmas money in an Internet scam. www.gibline.com I was instantly suspicious when I saw that it was invitation only. The warning bells rang when my son said it costs $150 a year, and he didn’t know what they do. All he knew was that he would make money for talking online.
It is just a networking group. http://gibline10.com/what-is-giblink/ This page is all political gibberish. It still didn’t tell me what they do.
I get so frustrated when programs like this are available to minors. None of the kids at the party yesterday had a business to promote. This program just collects money from people who don’t know enough to investigate a program. How do you get your money? For every person you get to sign up, you earn $15. Not much.
Each person needs to sign up 10 people just to break even. Even at that, it doesn’t look any better than other business networking communities - everyone is there to sell, no one is there to buy.

I just deleted more than 4000 spams from my inbox. I wish the Internet would invent a way to prevent spammers from hijacking emails. But, there is no money in that, so the odds of the pundits protecting our emails is far off. It is sad when they even figure out how to hit hotmail accounts.
I had to give me yahoo account up almost one year ago because of this problem. I am constantly bouncing emails, and trying to keep spammers out. Unfortunately, it also means keeping out writers and editors. It can get frustrating.
I must have spent 2 hours today cleaning out my inbox.

Earlier this year I took an online course to learn how to put together a Media Room for my website. It’s been a challenge only because it takes time. Time that illusive, nebulous necessity. Anyhow, I finally decided to put what I have finished online and will update and add to as I can.
Do you have a Media Room for your website? I’m still looking for the best way to format things. I’ve used a table of contents within the Media Room so visitors can find their way to info from there.
Do any of you have ideas, suggestions or experience to help me as I try to fine tune this?
If you want to take a look, my website is www.theinkslinger.net.

I have posted on this before, but as another interstate visit with grandchildren (this time two of them) is looming, I am making preparations. I’m taking two sisters, one aged 7 (who was lost at the Adelaide Zoo last time we went) and the other aged 5. I’m thankful that there is a time lapse between each visit to my elderly parents as they grow up a little more!
But still things can happen and I try to reduce the danger elements as best I can. It is a two hour flight between Brisbane and Adelaide and I’ve never had trouble with the children on the plane. Numerous trips to the toilet, and plenty of food and books to read makes it a painfree event.
We have the “Golden Rule†– that they must “hold my hand†and “don’t get lost†but I need to keep my wits about me all the time. One thing that they get a bit miffed about is that I take a photo of them every day. When we are ready to go out I will line them up, and take a photo with my Nikon. I hope never to use it – and unless it is an excellent photo it will never be printed.
The reason for the photo is that if we get separated – and they get lost I will have photo to show what they were wearing. Much easier than trying to think of those details in the peak of drama. “Here Mr Policeman – this is what they were wearing today.†Much more effective that vague descriptions under duress. And I will have a hard copy of a photo of them with me anyway. Just in case.
This time I will give them a card with phone numbers on. They know my home phone number by heart, but I won’t be there. I will try and get them to memorise my mobile/cell phone number though, and as they are pretty smart young girls, I’m sure they will remember it in no time.
I only have five days with them, and I have other family members sharing the “child care†role with me, but I know it is MY RESPONSIBILITY at the end of the day.
I’m so thankful though, that with my phone or camera I can quickly get a photo of them that, should something happen, I will be able to produce the photo with the needed detail.
(ps It is a good tip too when taking older folk on an outing. Especially those whose memories are fading and they get a little disorientated.)

While we sit in a rising pool of unknowns, wondering if we are coming to recession, are in recession, or going into a calamity of proportions yet unknown, we still debate what got us here in the first place. Globalization is blamed for much of our ills and indeed the loss of jobs and industry has brought us to the last stage of an economic empire-that of a service industry. This has been going on for decades as while we sleep soundly, the other side of the world wants what we have already received-a high standard of living. Our parents and grandparents sacrificed for us and did without, so that we could have a better future.
The fear and greed scenario has always been there, it is the prime motivator for the present strategy of the Greenspan era-productivity growth-or less labor and more output in our country’s case as it stands. We have cut labor and boosted productivity to the point of excess in this country and we now pay for that, as there is no free lunch, with less jobs available as the “global” economy heats up and allows us some stability for our exports. This is a temporary situation, one that bodes badly for us in the decades to come. With the lack of industry to “make” things, and the productivity push of the “greed” factor, we become a nation of intellectual providers and no longer a provider of “things.” This is the first sign of an empire’s collapse. We cannot maintain the standard of living for the present, regardless of those who have not reached it yet, and if we do not participate in the foreign markets in the way of stock, ADR’s, or direct investment, we will see our money come back to us in the form of asset sales to those who take our dollars and need to reinvest them, such as Dubai or China-who has a huge investment in our bond market.
The real story of business is cut-throat, inhumane, and cares less about people-it is about banks, money, and the rate of return. Ignore that, and indeed it will be a bumpy ride. Economics in general are not social endeavors and for all the screaming of free trade, there really is no such thing. It is, and always has been a “fixed game” and the little guy gets stuck with all the risk in the end.

As some folk might know I love taking photos and have been addicted to digital cameras for a while now. I’m on camera numbr 5 - worn out some and lost one, and now have two Nikon Coolpix cameras. (One as a back up as I have found on two occasions previously my camera has failed me when I really need it so I take two with me when I travel!)
I never intend to have prints of ALL my photos, but I do like to keep some. This year for Christmas I have given the little family members small photo albums and I’m going to send them appropriate photos. I did get a printer which I can print very nice copies, but I have already discovered that the cost of replacing ink cartridges can be high and most of the photo shops charge around 39c each.
But I discovered a great site where I can get them for 19c each - and not only that I can order and pay for them online, and just wait for a couple of days for the packet of prints to turn up in my mailbox. No visits to the photo shop. Easy, peasy. Click on Snapfish to find out all about it. Seems it works around the world.
Also one gets extra FREE copies for referrals. I like that idea too!!

I got this joke from one of my mates and I love it when I get these sort of jokes in the email because it gives me a good laugh and also the opportunity to do a post on it on one of my blogs. I received this one today and I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I did.

It’s one of those “evolutionary things” that allows
Them to stand closer to the kitchen sink.

——————————————————————-
Why do men pass gas more than women?
Because women can’t shut up long enough to

If your dog is barking at the back door and your wife is yelling at the front door, who do you let in first?
The dog, of course. He’ll shut up once you let him in.

What’s worse than a Male Chauvinist Pig?
A woman who won’t do what she’s told.

Scientists have discovered a food that diminishes a woman’s sex drive by 90%.
It’s called a Wedding Cake.
——————————————————————-
Why do men die before their wives?
They want to.

Women will never be equal to men until they can walk down the street with a bald head and a beer gut, and still think they are sexy.

In the beginning, God created the earth and rested.
Then God created Man and rested.
Then God created Woman.
Since then, neither God nor Man has rested.
