Fear

So much fear in the air these days. Determining which is legitimate and which is not has become quite the task. Who, for instance, is a terrorist? Those who perpetrate deathly acts that instill fear far beyond the moment of their martyrly deed? Or those who remind us as often as it is prudent for them to do so that we must remain afraid? Very afraid.

I am working on an essay for a political blog which addresses what I think I will coin ‘Bush Traumatic Stress Disorder’. Without going into the clinical minutiae, the syndrome involves being afraid all the time. Thusly elevating stress hormones that are essentially designed for the fight or flight mechanism. This mechanism, of course, is only meant to be engaged for brief increments of time. To sustain such is to wear the mind and the body down to less than optimal effectiveness. And this, it would seem, detracts from quality of life.

I think my ‘mission’ for the year 2008 will be to offer up whatever I can in the form of words, song, presence, and of course, humor, that will chip away at the disempowerment that generally comes from living life in fear. I will focus on a return to ’safety’, whether this merely means helping myself and others internalize a sense of safety even in the midst of storm, or whether it means identifying the shams and charlatans who seem to find benefit and gain in others being afraid.

Go now, readers of the blog, and stick your hand in the fire. Trust me, it won’t burn.

Things your granny should have told you - how to fix that massive New Year’s hangover…

Things your granny should have told you: "HOW TO CURE A HANGOVER". They say you should not have got yourself into such a state where you need to cure a hangover in the first place. Easier said than done. You need a little ingenuity and hope springs eternal in the pursuit of such a remedy for that annual over-imbibement. Such things are suggested in the "Schott’s Food and Drink Miscellany". Worth a read? Read below: 1/ The Embalmer: a pint of cold tea mixed with slices of lemon. 2/ The Lazemby: hot water infused with ginger, cloves and honey. 3/ St Marks Pick-me-up: 10 drops of brandy, two glasses of water, a glass of brandy, a shot of curacao and some lemon-juice. Mix well. 4/ The Doctor: raw egg, brandy, fresh milk (sherry may be substituted) Or take a bath and a lie-down -and a vow of abstinence! Happy holidays. Huttriver says: for the younger brigade anyway, a bit of the hair of the dog that bit you will be good for you. Have a good meal before you hit the road, Jack! Have a great time!

And Trick Falls suggests a couple of aspirins. Too simplistic for a post.

Have a very happy Communating New Year…

Have a very happy Communating New Year…

Once again Huttriver and the rest of New Zealand will get to the dateline first.

We will be recovering while you in the north are just getting wound up.

Have a great time and don’t overdo it this year.

Cheers.

Exorcism’s at the Pope’s command, Are they going to get the demon out of the Bush?

You probably know the source of this link or URL, so I’ll save my fingers the effort, but on a serious note, do you think that the Catholic Church has the right answer and approach to lying corrupt individuals that have usurped their right to position and authority as leaders in our communities?

Who should be the first to experience an exorcism?

Can I nominate a world leader?

You know one or both of the Executives that lead the worlds leading Super Power, strangled in the quagmire of the Middle East…

Is it true that fools are demon possessed?

Can anyone else connect the dots?

You know where the dots lead to don’t you?

eye-dee-eye-oh!-tee’s heeheheehee :)

MIA Bloggers

My very first blog ever was over at you-know-where. I was completely new to the concept of blogging, but soon found a group of smart, friendly, funny, and caring folks with whom it was a pleasure to interact. Blogging soon went from a foreign concept to a bit of an obsession.

Before that site went belly-up, a few of my favorite bloggers moved on to other sites, some leaving no forwarding address. When the site closed up shop (Could I possibly use any more clichés here? I mean, it like, totally boggles the mind…), I lost track of a few more. I’m just wondering, do any of you know the whereabouts of:

  • LisaDreamer
  • Inquest of a Woman
  • Dancelover
  • Diva Jamaicana

I’m sure that I’m leaving out a whole bunch of folks that I’d love to read again, but those four came quickly to mind.

Psychic Predictions for 2008

With an uncanny accuracy rate of 37.5%, my alter ego the Knight of Swords, offers stunning psychic predictions for the coming year.

  • A forgotten and unpopular movie star will be abducted by aliens at 3:37 p.m., March 3rd, and never heard from again.
  • Anchovy chewing gum will make a dramatic come-back, prompting “fish breath” to become the biggest turn-on since satin sheets.
  • Oprah will be asked to serve as the Vice Presidential running mate on the ticket of a popular candidate.
  • Bloggers will finally get the message that most people just don’t care what time strangers get up each morning or whether they still have hemorrhoids.
  • A beloved cartoon character will be caught in a vice squad raid in a small Florida town with a rat problem.
  • On “Survivor Micronesia,” host Jeff Probst will replace the lame phrase immunity, back up for grabs with reality, back up for grabs
  • A world famous psychic, other than me, will claim that spooks and spirits from other dimensions have been “screwing with us for grims” all along.
  • An exhaustive study will prove that the numerous errors in Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code were included on purpose to brainwash people into believing the book is pure fiction.
  • Experts will show that global warming is being caused by excessive amounts of hot sex. According to the study, people were “simply expected to have a little more conversation.”
  • Communati will go to a new color scheme with 75% less light blue text in it.
  • One reader of these predictions will use this material as the basis for a bestselling book that will ultimately convert Hillary Clinton into a Libertarian while playing “Jeopardy.”

Disclaimer: These predictions are provided simply to fill space on my final Communati post of the year and are not intended to become self-fulfilling prophecy except in states where such prophecy is either mandated by law or allowed to happen through one form of lunacy or another.

My horoscope for today reads:

“For Sunday, December 30 - You are about to enter a placid, worry-free time, when fun and feeling good are the name of the game. The world will suddenly feel like a giant amusement park, with stimulating sights and thrilling rides at every turn. This is a great time to begin exploring a new hobby, interest or career opportunity you have been thinking about. Your brain is open to new ideas and new ways of doing things. The proverbial old dog is ready to learn some new tricks!”

I can be a bit of a skeptic at times, but I REALLY want this one to be right on the money!

We all have the ability to think and help others, we all like to share both good and bad events that happen in our lives, why should only a few be given the opportunity to share and make a profit off of other people’s losses? What do you know about your mind and the minds of others?

Here are some things to think about if your interested in similar or different views that you might have. My writings express my own personal view and sometimes I share opposing views for the purpose of contrast and education.

  1. Mental Health How low should the standard be?
  2. Human Relationships
  3. Personality Types and mine

THE PRICE OF POLITICAL CORRECTNESS

The price of “political correctness” has been the loss of spirit in the American culture. In order not to offend anyone, we have become morally and spiritually sterile. The holidays have degraded into a time to shop and all inner meaning has been lost from what was once a time of joy.

While I do not advocate any particular religion, it seems a loss to our society when we prohibit celebrations that are rooted in the spirit of love and brotherhood. Working in a school system it was dis-heartening not to be able to celebrate Christmas in the way we did when I was a kid. Gone are the decorations, the songs and the parties. It could just as easily have been April vacation as it was Christmas. After all, saying “Merry Christmas” is not politically correct.

What is wrong with celebrating all major holidays? We could even have an atheist day. By negating these celebrations we have lost the ability to express our inner most spiritual thinking. By making celebrations taboo, we turn holidays into commercialized opportunities for big corporations to get richer. Holidays are now measured by retail shopping and consumer spending reports rather than by how many people were helped, housed or clothed. Times meant for inner reflection have turned into times of increased anxiety, stress and sadness.

In the book “Fahrenheit 450” society became sterile and docile because writing that offended anyone was basically rejected by publishers and society. The move towards political correctness drove society into intellectual stagnation which allowed the many to be dictated to by the very few. The end result was the burning of books that contained any type of offense to anyone. I am sure that my books, like Waking God and Jesus taught It, Too: The early Roots of the Law of Attraction and even Raping Louisiana: A Diary of Deceit would hit the fires because each book offends someone. Will the day come when such books will not see the light of day because they are politically incorrect? When we lose the ability to celebrate traditional holidays in a traditional way, is the day of censorship really that far off?

It is said that one of the chief causes of the decline of the Roman Empire was due to moral and spiritual decay. By moral, I do not mean religious morality, but rather that ideas and values that make a society what it is. Values are societal glue. Why associate with people if there is nothing in common? How can our society remain cohesive if we cannot share and experience the values and traditions of all of our members? Rather than embrace each others differences and celebrate our varied heritages, we ban such interactions all in the name of correctness.

Perhaps the greatest tragedy in this entire “correctness” trend is its impact on the children. They seem to be growing up devoid of values and traditions. To them, the whole purpose of a holiday is to “get.” While “getting” is by no means a negative thing, they have lost the balance to the equation which is “giving.” I do not mean material gifts when I say giving. Here is what I see: fewer calls and visits to grandparents, little concern for the less fortunate, little desire to even explore spiritual issues or share spiritual ideas, a take and no give attitude, loss of respect for just about everything, no concern for taking responsibility and the loss of the ability to just be kids and play.

To be “correct” you cannot really question or ask question for fear of being offensive. You cannot celebrate for fear of being offensive. You cannot discuss meanings of things for fear of being offensive. You cannot express values or stand up for what you believe to be right because it may be offensive. Where will this all lead?

How low should the standard be?

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22435155/

If you visit the link and read the article I have to wonder just how low the standard of proof should be, should malpractice constitute a reasonable standard to prove that a person is mentally ill?

Should we allow perjury to be a measure to prove the victim/defendant is actually mentally ill?

Should the confessed lies signed under duress or coercion be the standard, should a mothers dictation to the crisis intervention worker be the standard of proof to prove that a good man and innocent victim should be declared mentally ill or retarded?

I think this article http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22435155/ creates a dangerous measure that we need to be real careful of in order to prevent good and innocent people from becoming victims of bullies and abusive family members set to destroy the lives of others for an obvious motive.

What motive? The oldest motive in the world…

Defamation, Lying, Dignity it all destroys a person’s right to life…
