I thought that a good laugh may be a good start to the new year. I posted this on my BlogSire blog and it got a pretty good response so I thought I would share it with my Communati mates.

Men strike back!
How many men does it take to open a beer?
None. It should be opened when she brings it.
——————————————————————-
Why is a Laundromat a really bad place to pick up a woman?
Because a woman who can’t even afford a washing machine will probably never be able to support you.
——————————————————————–
Why do women have smaller feet than men?
It’s one of those “evolutionary things” that allows Them to stand closer to the kitchen sink.
———————————————– ——————–
How do you know when a woman is about to say something smart?
When she starts a sentence with “A man once told me…“
——————————————————————-
How do you fix a woman’s watch?
You don’t. There is a clock on the oven.
——————————————————————-
Why do men pass gas more than women?
Because women can’t shut up long enough to Build up the required pressure.
——————————————————————-
If your dog is barking at the back door and your wife is yelling at the front door, who do you let in first?
The dog, of course. He’ll shut up once you let him in.
——————————————————————-
What’s worse than a Male Chauvinist Pig?
A woman who won’t do what she’s told.
——————————————————————-
I married a Miss Right.
I just didn’t know her first name was Always.
————————————————–
Scientists have discovered a food that diminishes a woman’s sex drive by 90%.
It’s called a Wedding Cake.
——————————————————————-
Why do men die before their wives?
They want to.
————————————————–
Women will never be equal to men until they can walk down the street with a bald head and a beer gut, and still think they are sexy.
————————————————–
In the beginning, God created the earth and rested. Then God created Man and rested. Then God created Woman. Since then, neither God nor Man has rested. ————————————————–

This is the time of year when everyone assesses what they’ve done in 2007 and lists their plans for 2008. I’m no exception, and yet I don’t really believe in making New Year’s resolutions. That’s because I find it hard to buy into the notion that the passage of time between midnight on Dec 31st one year and 1 minute past midnight on January 1st in the next year is suddenly going to change me.
I’m more of a realist and I know that making several resolutions is likely to paralyse me into inaction. (That gut feeling has been borne out by recent research in the UK that shows that people who make a single resolution are more likely to keep it than those who make dozens.)
In addition, I believe that you can make changes at any point during the year - you just have to be ready to do it. So instead of making resolutions, I have a list of things I’d like to achieve during the year. Some of these are personal goals, like sticking to a fitness program (something I started in October), while others are professional, to do with growing my writing business.
I’m not making a big song and dance about them, because that won’t help me to keep them. Instead, I will make a list, stick it up on the notice board in my office, and keep it as a reminder of my plans. I accept that plans and priorities will change, but I think that’s the best way for me to achieve measurable change in 2008. So that’s my two cents’ worth. What are your goals for the next year - and will you be using New Year’s resolutions as a call to action?

Fennel is another herb which has proven beneficial to women suffering from menopause symptoms. While the entire plant is used to treat a wide variety of symptoms and illnesses; the seeds are the source of the phytoestrogens that help treat menopause symptoms.
Fennel is also known as: Sweet Fennel, Wild Fennel, Carosella, Marathon, Meeting Seeds, Funcho, Fenkel, and Finocchio. The plant grows to a height of 5 ft and has light yellow flowers.
Fennel seed is commonly used as a seasoning with fish or the seeds are chewed after a meal to aid digestion and curb appetite. Tea made from crushed fennel seeds increases milk production in nursing mothers. It also strengthens the eyes, brain, hearing, and heart; plus, it acts as an anti-depressant making people "happy".
Fennel seeds contain phytoestrogen and other phytochemicals. The phytoestrogen acts as a mild form of estrogen in the human body relieving menopause symptoms. The other phytochemicals include anti-inflamatory agents and anti-histamine agents. This combination acts to reduce pain and inflamation; decrease or eliminate allergy symptoms; and improve overall health.
No adverse effects have been attributed to fennel; except for people who prove to be allergic (and the allergic reactions are usually mild due to the anti-histamine compounds already in the seeds).
To use fennel seeds, you can either chew the whole seeds as a snack or after a meal; or, you can make a tea by boiling 1/2 teaspoon of crushed seeds in 1 cup of water for 10 - 15 minutes. Then, cool, strain and drink. If you are using the tea, you need to drink 3 cups a day to get the maximum benefit.

Yesterday my youngest daughter returned home from a visit with her mother. It was a rough 9 days with out her in the house. Me and my other daughter did have a lot of fun doing things for “Older kids” but you could tell that we both missed her very much.
My oldest brother and his children are in town and the plan was I was going to hang out with her at my mothers until the kids went to bed and then go home so I could get up early in the morning and go to work. This seamed like a good plan because she would be asleep then wake up with her cousins. But, when she realized I was going to leave she grabbed a hold of me and would not let me go. I asked her what she wanted to do, she replied, “Go with you.”
I said, “That means you are going to have to get up at 5:00 am with me.”
Her responce, “I want to sleep with you.”
So of course we went back home plopped in bed and put a movie on. While we were watching the movie she sat up kissed my head and said, “Daddy, I missed you so much I cried.”
MY KIDS ARE GREAT!!!!

My Oldest daughter is really mad at me now. I have told her that she is not allowed to get a tattoo. This would be fine except her mother who she has met 2 times since she was 21 months old and both times have been in the past year said she would take her to get one. I have told my daughter that she can get a tattoo when a few things are met:
1st - she has to understand that the Tattoo will have meaning. Of course that led to a conversation about my tattoo - http://druworld.blogspot.com/2007/12/tattoo-to-heal.html
2nd - She has to have the Tattoo design for two years and after the two years is up she must still want it.
and of course 3rd - since she is only 11 she has to wait 17 years before she can get a design.
Am asking to much? I just can’t believe this woman that gave birth to her is that ignorant to think that it is okay for her to tell this girl, that was not in her life for 9 years, that she can get a tattoo.

For writers who are interested in some highly recommended mechanics of book and scene construction, I have posted two recent blog entries:
1. Book Construction Using ‘Scene’ and ‘Sequel’ (macro level book structure);
2. Scene Construction using ‘Motivation Reaction Units’ (micro level scene structure).
Feel free to check out these techniques in my blog at www.booksbymaureen.com. I would be interested in hearing your opinions. Personally, I view them as helpful guidelines, rules of thumb, not Cast-In-Concrete-Commands-Which-Must-Be-Obeyed.
Then again, I tend to be a tad rebellious.

My romantic suspense, The Jaguar Legacy, received a LASR Award nomination for Best Long Print Book for 2007. The final selection will be released January 2, 2008. I am very excited, and would like to thank those who nominated my book.
