Hillary Lindsey Jesus Takes the Wheel of Her Career

Hillary Lindsey went on the road from Washington (Georgia) to Nashville, much like Mariah Carey in the film Tennessee. There were stops along the way, four years of college and an internship at Patrick Joseph music and the MCA Nashville publicity department.

The News Reporter Washington, Georgia

One of the first songs that Hillary Lindsey wrote was about a friend of her parents going through a divorce. The song was like a Blog posting, describing her feelings about the emotional turmoil she observed a close family friend going through.

Hillary Lindsey’s career achieved the ultimate heights when she co-wrote Jesus Take The Wheel with Brett James and Gordie Sampson. This was after her first #1 hit: Martina McBride’s Blessed in 2002.

Hillary Lindsey is adept at writing melodies as well as lyrics, she performed at “Jack’s Guitar Bar” along with other Nashville Music Dreamers. The songs on the following fastmusiclink are Song Pitch Demos, the recordings that professional songwriters distribute to recording artists, their managers and record company Artist and Repertoire executives who are always looking for songs to fill the track list on new albums.

This brings up the question: “Do you have to have a college education to be a successful songwriter?” It obviously doesn’t hurt your chances, but listening to these demos, they sound much like what the rest of us can produce with a lot of practice. Primal Urges & Primal Drives

It’s an old and ongoing conversation. The drive toward being a civilized human trumps the more base and primary movers of the psyche. These drives, such as sex and pleasure and feel good and ‘Ooh, ooh, no, not there”…can become quite disruptive to the decorum to which the collective ‘we’ has become accustomed. We are, after all, animals. Just not like those other, more beastly animals.

Crude, guttural, noisy, present in the moment, and unabashedly unabashed.

If those animals were human, they would be quite the violators of the proverbial norm. A belch here, some flatulence there. Vile curse words in your face, and repressed anger in response.

Oh yes. Until it, like many primal urges, seeps like water through the cracks of your very own domesticity. Perhaps the ‘success’ of a man or woman shall be based on the ability to subjugate the primal for the civilized.

Yikes!

I may be in a storm of domestic trouble and calamity. And you know trouble and calamity are quite contrary to order and taming. I’ve been disciplined many times, instructed to walk the line.

I never walk the line!

How prudent is it to focus most energy on repression and suppression if not denial of primal urges? Even as disruptive as they are? Is not such a process and intention a distancing of oneself from the very nature that one is? If so, how can one justify and rationalize and intellectualize the perpetuation of such?

I dunno…

Have I gone astray? To be cognizant of the way we humans in collective fashion have gone astray? You know, from the nature.

For better or for worse?

Let’s just say that there are times that I wonder of the wisdom of moving into our abstract brain-based “reason” at the expense of the very nature that supports and nurtures us from without and within. Us equals human. Human equals living, breathing co-creators of the life of which is lived. Living is today. Today is absent of tomorrow and hopefully not intoxicated by yesterday.

How much of your nature seeps through the cracks of your tamed and civilized being?

Procrastination as a Learning Experience

My recent problem with procrastination got me thinking … why did it happen? Instead of beat myself up about it, I started to realize that there was probably a reason for it.

And I was right. There is. I keep saying that there is no way I will ghost write articles again… and then I take another assignments because of the money. And I don’t like the cycle I’ve put myself in.

So after the smoke clears, I need keep this in mind and figure some things out. I am a hard worker. But when I start to lose interest, my work ethic goes down hill. I have no idea what the next step is for me. I have a few possibilities. I just need to clear all of my deadlines and remember not to take on any work I despise.

Moving GPTW - Some Bells And Whistles

Today I spent more time away from my desk than I had planned, so there wasn’t time to do much. So here’s what I have done:

I have made my Technorati button bigger so people can see it and add me to their Technorati Favorites.

I have added some more subscription chiclets from this site: http://www.ifeedreaders.com/chicklet-creator/ (yes, Feedburner makes it unnecessary, but for those who have a favourite reader it makes it easy). I’d be interested to know if you have a favourite reader that isn’t on that list.

I emailed Performancing about the search problem I am having with this new theme. If I can’t get it fixed soon, much as I love it, it will have to go. :(

I read an article on DIY SEO from Lorelle (she is THE Wordpress guru - if you have a Wordpress site, subscribe now. )

I wrote a post on one of my other blogs about the new site. I also wrote a post on that site and checked to make sure my feed was working - it was.

Still on the to-do list:
Fixing the search problem OR finding a new template
Adding a sitemap, an archives page and a contact page
Submitting to search engines
Adding some new pinging services to the Wordpress default
Changing my sig to include the new site (I’ve done it in a few places)
Starting/joining some community conversations to get the word out

He had set off for work that morning with not a thought in his mind but what he would have to do at work that day. He had stopped at the CoffeeBuck$, as usual, to catch-up on the online news.
THIS PAGE IS UNDERCONSTRUCTION////////////////////////DO NOT READ///////////

She was there, again. He could feel her eyes as she scanned his ball-cap, down over his laptop- over his shoulders as he
looked-up at her in response to the energy emanating from her gaze, averting his eyes at the last millisecond to avoid looking directly at her.
This had been happening for several days. He was a regular at the tech-center CoffeeBuck$. She must be a new-hire there, just showing up one morning. Her voice had a musical quality, the notes glissandoing off the tabletops and tile counters as she requested her Latte Especial.
The latte’ette sat down at a table where she could survail his every move.
He thought about his girlfriend, out-of-town for a second week; involved with her career, at a corporate training program that would last for another week in “The City”
It was the most amazing thing! They had met while waiting for separate job interviews in the same office complex, starting to talk to pass the time. They watched the same television programs, listened to the same radio station play the same ol’ songs over and over and had similar views about just about everything.
She was even geographically desirable! Living only a short-run away on the way to the park where he liked to exercise.
At first they just met for coffee, then it was the offbeat movies that she sought-out that he was beginning to understand and the more time they spent together the better the relationship was getting.
It was just about time for him to leave CoffeBuck$ to open-up the office when he could sense her gaze scanning him again. She stood up and walked over to his table. “Are you a Boston Red Sox fan, or is that just a hat?” She asked.
not finished yet….

Peanut Allergy Test Is Giving False Positives

That’s right. If you or your child was diagnosed as having a peanut allergy - there is an excellent chance the test was WRONG.

If you did not have an actual allergic reaction to peanuts before having the skin test - the skin test for peanuts has been found to give NUMEROUS false positives.

Researchers took a group of 84 children who had tested positive for peanut allergy with a skin test (they developed hives that were 8 mm or larger at the site of the test) and gave them a “food challenge test” (fed them peanuts) in a hospital while they were under constant observation. NONE of them had ANY allergic reaction.

Peanut allergy is a serious allergic condition that can cause death for those individuals who actually have it. Even a small amount of peanut can bring on a serious reaction. The problem is that for some “currently” unknown reason; the skin test (scratch test) is producing a huge number of false positives. They do not know yet how long this problem has existed for this test. (The actual goal of the test was to see if the size of the hives produced by the skin test had any affect on how sensitive the children were to peanuts; imagine their surprise when these “allergic” children happily munched on peanuts and had NO REACTION.)

This means that many children and their families are being subjected to very strict restrictions that are not necessary.

If you or your child has tested positive for peanut allergy AND have never had an allergic reaction to peanuts prior to testing; request a peanut challenge in a hospital environment. The hospital staff can safely handle any allergic reactions that occur and it is the only way to be sure.

This information was just released today by Dr Brynn Wainstein, the head of the study, conducted by the University of New South Wales and the Sydney Children’s Hospital.

The Secret to Work at Home Success

I have a client with some great ideas on working at home. He is third generation work at home. I have worked for him, and his father. I want to preface by saying he is NOT paying me to post these articles to my blog. However, I did ask him if I may post his articles, instead of just a link. He graciously gave me permission - link included :)

Actually - I have to admit that I have learned a lot working for this company over the last year+

The Secret to Work at Home Success

The secret to success is found in a single word – choice. Your choices will define whether you succeed or fail. However, most people misunderstand what a choice is. A choice is not something you think of doing. A choice is not something that you think is a good idea.

A choice is something that you take action on. If you want to succeed, then you need to ‘do’ something that you do. When mentoring business owners, the first thing new business owners are told to do is to keep a daily journal. This journal must include three things: preparing to make money, earning money, learning to make money.

The key is to realizing that your time has a monetary value. How much money can you make in an hour when you are ‘making money?’ That is how much an hour of your time is worth.

Preparing to Make Money

Preparing to make money consumes a large part of most manager’s time. It involves creating and maintaining a business and marketing plan. Bookkeeping and keeping reports on sales, returns, purchases, and expenses takes a big chunk of this time.

Preparing to make money is a main source of procrastination and wasted time. Many small business owners spend too much time preparing to make money. They also waste time learning to do new projects.

One good example is the small business owner who takes three months to learn how to write a marketing campaign. They start with the belief that they could not afford to pay someone $1000 - $3000 to write one for them. However, if they had of spent that two months making sales then they could have paid a professional to write their marketing campaign, and had money to spare.

It is so easy to procrastinate at this stage. Managers can waste time answering emails, participating in forums, reading blogs, researching competitor’s websites, answering phones, writing articles, etc.

Making Money

This aspect of business management is the most important. Business owners need to use this time wisely. All business owners should work on their skills, organization, and marketing plans until their ‘making money’ time reaches a preset ‘per hour’ rate. Each business owner will define what their own fee is, but it should never be lower than $20.00.

Making money involves researching products, working with customers to make sure that the product and marketing are attracting the right target market. Reaching new markets. Establishing Joint Ventures with other companies.

This section should never fall lower than your monthly expenses. If it costs $1000 to run the business a month, and you make $20 an hour, then you must work 50 hours a month at ‘making money’ just to pay your bills. You do not start to earn a profit until after this time.

This is ‘epiphany’ time for most managers. They realize that they are not working 12 hours a week making money. In fact, most small business managers who work 40 hours a week on their company rarely spend more than 6 hours actually making money.

Learning

No manager should stop learning. All managers should spend at least 4 hours a week learning, but they should never spend too much time learning. Learning includes reading forums, emails, web sites, books, watching videos, surfing the web, and reading magazines. All of these things fall into the learning category.

Down/Wasted Time

Once the journal has been in operation for a few days the business manager will start noticing blank spaces. These blank spaces include lunch time, driving, getting coffee, taking a break, other ‘time wasters.’

Some managers are stunned to realize how many blanks are in their journal. Take some time to keep your own journal. It might explain why your business is not building wealth, and why you are working too hard for too little profit.

10 Commandments of Profit Building

I want to preface by saying he is NOT paying me to post these articles to my blog. However, I did ask him if I may post his articles, instead of just a link. 10 Commandments of Profit Building

There are 1000 things in our lives that we never see until we need something in them. “Niches are like bathrooms; you never notice one until you need it.” -Primm (The Niche Man)

#1 The person who finds a new niche claims the cream of the financial awards.

Gates built a platform for computers to operate on and made billions. Someone made pulpless orange juice.

It’s shocking at how few books are written on the subject of niche buildings. An under marketed niche is worth a billion dollar marketing campaign.

#2 The best niches are built on the foundations of success.

A niche is a new idea, but it is marketed on a foundation that has been proven successful. Never think that a new product is all you need. You also need a strong marketing platform.

#3 The best new product is an old one that has been adapted.

The simplest way to create a new idea is to do what others have been doing for years, and improve it. Adapting a current product to solve more problems and add more value for the money.

#4 The best way to increase profit is by adding to a current product.

The best selling product can be improved by adding something to it. This is a twist on the adaptation principal. Both adding and adapting products that are currently big sellers is one way to increase profit.

#5 Two is always better than one.

Combining two products that compliment each other is a way to let business owners increase the price of both – even if both products are currently on the market. Convenience sells. People would rather buy a product that is adapted to improve its effectiveness, has something added to increase value, and then is combined with something that improves is usefulness.

#6 Customize the product.

Too much choice can loose the sale. However, offering a customized program will increase sales. A company that sells ‘how to start a business’ products can increase sales by directing customers to a work at home, small business, and big business packages.

#7 Give people a chance to grow with the product.

People hate change. That is why computer programs have plug-ins, expansions, and upgrades. In truth, it would cost nothing to package the original program in every new version. However, people would be more likely to change products if they believe that they are getting a whole new package. However, loyalty is built if they believe they are improving their ‘tried and true’ product.

#8 Entertainment sells.

Entertainment has become a focal point of our culture. Many people need to be entertained, amused, or fascinated before they spend their money. A relaxed customer spends more. A few ‘tools’ that entertain customers before they buy can make a big difference when it comes to their attitude when hit with the ‘buy now’ decision.

#9 Guarantees and Promises sell.

Consumers want to know how long their product will last and what they can expect. If people can expect to live longer, happier, wealthier, or with less work, then they will buy the product.

#10 Freedom

People hate to be tied down. They are always looking for anything that will break their chains and set them free.

Bringing together as many of the 10 commandments of Profit Building will help business owners improve their bottom line, and build their own wealth.

Kelly Clarkson Reveals What Has Been Happening In My December

Kelly Clarkson, American Idol has taken the biggest risk an established recording artist can take, disregarding the advice of her personal manager and the record company executives that handle the Artists and repertoire, directing the artist’s career and selecting the songs that Kelly Clarkson would record on her newest CD album.

What Kelly Clarkson has done is written the lyrics to all of the songs on her new album My December.
This is quite an achievement. Thirteen tracks that appear to detail what has been happening in her life. When you see a Kelly Clarkson interview on one of the television “Latest Entertainment” programs she has said that she has been so busy making singing appearances that she hasn’t had time for a relationship.

Her song Can I Have A Kiss relate her current thinking on that.

Somewhere along the road, touring America and singing every night in a different city, something happened to Kelly Clarkson. I can only infer from the highly
sensitive emotional content of the lyrics and the powerful singing on Never Again
that somebody “broke Kelly Clarkson’s heart” as the saying in our culture goes. This is totally conjecture on my part.

Never Again
I hope the ring you gave to her
turns her finger green.
I hope when you’re in bed with her,
you think of me.

I would never wish bad things,
But I don’t wish you well.
Could you tell,
by the flames that burned your words? Copyright 2007 Kelly Clarkson

The risk of an established recording artist writing all the lyrics of a new album is that it may be too personal for her fans. After all being a fan is like being in love; those first few encounters when those little cartoon hearts are descending from Heaven upon your head, that image of the artist is the most lasting one in your mind.
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/asin/B000QFAJ7S/ref=nosim/your_httpgetoveblo-20_id

This is the risk a performer takes when becoming a true Artiste, opening-up and revealing her innermost thoughts and feelings as part of the process of creating a work that can send a message.

The Message is a privilege that performers have, they can communicate to their loved ones (and loves lost)using their number communication distribution method, their songs. Never Again (Note: The Record Company has taken the music player off her website, sorry Steve Lee.)
